21ST CENTURY DEMOCRATS
21st Century Democrats is a progressive organization that helps train Democrat progressives to win campaigns. Since 1999, 21st Century Democrats has trained over 4,500 activists, building a base of expertise across America.
Their annual campaign training session is June 3 through 6, 2005 in Washington, DC. Democrats from North Carolina need to be well represented. Here are the details:
Our annual D.C. campaign training is an intense, four-day experience that leaves graduates prepared to become a field director on a state legislative race or an effective paid or volunteer organizer on any campaign. The training features presentations by top campaign professionals during the day, and an ongoing campaign simulation in the evenings, in which small groups write a detailed field plan. . . . Our alumnae network is now a powerful force on Democratic campaigns at all levels, and many of our training graduates served in senior positions in 2004.

REPRESENTATIVE PATRICK MCHENRY
Conventional political wisdom suggests that the 10th Congressional District in North Carolina is “safe Republican.” Yet, Republicans nominated a radical religious right Republican in Patrick McHenry.
Rep. McHenry has co-sponsored Senate Joint Resolution 14, “Providing For the Recognition of Jerusalem as the Undivided Capitol of Israel before the United States Recognizes a Palestinian State, and for other purposes. The Join Resolution provides:
The United States shall not recognize a Palestinian state until the international community resolves the status of Jerusalem by recognizing the city as the undivided capital of Israel. – S. J. Res. 14
Enactment of the Joint Resolution would essentially mean perpetual war in the Middle East, a fact that is apparently lost on Rep. McHenry.
Such blunders may provide Democrats an opportunity to defeat Rep. McHenry in 2006.
