There IS no difference between a dictator and a President who acts like a spoiled, willful child who stubbornly bullies everyone in order to get his own way.  The only difference could possibly be that a dictator oversteps his bounds and gets taken out via a coup d'tat in the name of "Revolution".  The only remedy we have in America for the spoiled child who is the POTUS is an election, and even that doesn't work if his "Ranger" contributors are using their Diebold voting machines to steal said elections.

You can't even give this President a "time out" for his behavior - he might tell you to "Eff Off!"

At least Hitler knew when his reign was coming to an end and he, in cowardly fashion, killed himself and took everyone in that bunker with him.  As a Christian, I can't wish that for the POTUS because life is God-given and therefore, precious.  I just wish that this "Christian" walked like one, instead of talking like one and doing everything Jesus abhorred.

                        “Global Policy”

This is the message Americans need to get:  We are in Iraq because of "The Iraq Oil Bonanza:  Estimating Future Profits (January 2004). This short paper estimates potential long-term profits by private oil companies in Iraq.  By using different estimates for four key variables, including price and company/government share out of oil rents, the paper arrives at total profit estimates ranging from approximately $600 billion to $9 trillion.  The 'most probable' estimate yields annual profits from Iraq production of $95 billion per year for 50 years, a rate three times greater than the 2002 worldwide profits of the five largest international companies."  Publications of Global Policy Forum: http://www.globalpolicy.org/resource/pubs/index.htm

Please do what you can to get the truth out.

Do yourself a favor and check out this site: also, spread the word.  This sort of thing is mind boggling. http://www.globalpolicy.org/resource/pubs/index.htm

Junkie:  Thanks for the site alert. Global Policy is excellent and the article to which Tommye refers can be found at this link:  “The Iraq Oil Bonanza.”   Excellent writing and probative hypothesis.

                        MAL DUMOND*
                        “A Rejoinder”

Brooks' comments were spot on. Perhaps the problem Democrats have with engaging in a confrontation over Biblical issues is that this brings religion into the public policy sphere. Hence, what may be needed, rather than any official kind of Demo rejoinder, in terms so cogently put by Brooks, is to have political people of faith speak up, along with citizens of faith, well known and less so, who are not themselves politicians, taking the lead.

______

Junkie:  Dumond is referring to the article authored by George H. Brooks, appearing immediately below, that TPJ featured in early July.  Brooks’ article is one of the most perceptive analysis of the issue of religious faith and the Democratic Party.  Brooks’ article deserves republication:

As a Christian, I am appalled that the Bush administration gets a billing as great Christian Americans, when in fact its behavior and actions trumpet an alarming deficiency in moral values cherished by Christians, relating to war, hypocrisy, lies, deception, compassion, truthfulness, respect.

An unjust war, based on lies and deception (an impeachable offense), has killed more than 1,745 U.S. soldiers and more than 50,000 Iraqis, many innocent.  Bush has betrayed the honor and dedication of our armed forces, deploying them under the guise of defending America, when it appears the real objective was control of Iraq’s huge oil reserves. Don’t expect the troops home any time soon.

Do good Christians engage in vicious character assassinations against anyone who dares challenge them, as does the Bush gang, or exploit people’s grief (Schaivo, 9-11) for political gain?

This administration’s lies (bearing false witness) have not stopped since Bush campaigned in 2000 as “a uniter, not a divider,” and a “compassionate conservative”.  As the most divisive president in memory, Bush (and his extremist supporters) have damaged our nation’s unity beyond bin Laden’s wildest dreams.

This administration’s lies and deception encompass all issues and are documented for any who will exit denial long enough to read them.  What’s more, Republican extremist’s legislation, tax cuts, appointments, and dealings continue to pander to the rich, powerful, corporate elite and special interests. Aren’t these the types Christ threw out of the temple?

It all seems to echo a warning from Matthew 7.15, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”

                        “A Difference”

Please explain for me the difference between a dictator elected by a majority of the people of a country who controls both houses of the legislative process and a military coup who takes over the government and the legislative process and runs the country with an iron hand and is so stubborn like a child who wants it all done his way. Is there any difference?

Junkie:  This is a worthy question deserving a worthy answer.  TPJ invites its readers to respond.
