                        FOOL SOME OF THE PEOPLE
                        [Authored by F. De Marco*]

Junkie:  De Marco is writing to the Editor of the New York Times which published an article, Surprising June in Tax Revenues is Curbing Deficit.  The NYT notes that tax revenues are up about 26% this year over last and the Bush administration notes that the deficit will not be has high as projected six months ago.  DeMarco exposes the flaw in the NYT’s analysis.  While Junkie’s Latin is very rusty, we believe that De Marco’s quote roughly translates “because of this nothing comes of nothing.”

Dear Mr. Kudlow:

The saying: "[they] can fool some of the people some of the time, but [they] can't fool all of the people all of the time" is appropriate at this juncture. Based on the pre-election time political presuppositions that for the most part 'the masses are as..s", this [article] is a perfect example of hyped propaganda. I would have to terminate any managers that would bring to my desk a report based on current fiscal year 2000 baselines! The Dollar is tanking, CPI/Energy related impacts are pending, IRS is going after low income and middle class to raise revenues at record levels! THINK! "Post hoc, ergo propter hoc et ex nihilo nihil fit.
